Welcome to the Cheng Ho Cultural Museum, Malacca's largest museum, spread across eight beautifully restored shophouses right here on Lorong Hang Jebat. Zheng He, also known as Cheng Ho, was a Chinese Muslim admiral who led seven epic voyages between 1405 and 1433 during the Ming Dynasty. His treasure ships were enormous — some reportedly over a hundred metres long, dwarfing anything Columbus would sail decades later. And Malacca was one of his most important ports of call, kan? The museum takes you on a journey through these voyages with detailed navigation maps, stunning ship replicas, and artifacts recovered from trade routes across Southeast Asia, India, the Arabian Peninsula, and East Africa. You will see ceramics, coins, navigation instruments, and documents that reveal how deeply intertwined Chinese and Malay civilisations were centuries before the Europeans arrived.
